I have a Stata MP 4 core license. I have an incredibly complex mata optimization program running on my dual-core 16 gig laptop. It appears that it will take an impractical amount of time to optimize. I was going to use a cloud instance on Amazon AWS or something similar with many more cores. Is this something that should be speed it up? Stata/MP, which runs multithreaded, is also available. It is provided by the command stata-mp.Stata/MP on Picotte is licensed for up to 48 cores. NOTE: you must do 'set processors NN' in your.do file to be the exact number of slots requested by the job. Tufts provides an enterprise license for Stata/SE (Standard Edition), which is suitable for the analysis of larger datasets. Stata/SE supports analyses with up to 10,998 independent variables and datasets with up to 32,767 variables and 2.14 billion observations. Stata has a user-friendly graphical interface that easily allows for the following functionality:
- Summary statistics
- Data cleaning and management
- Advanced techniques, such as survival models with frailty, dynamic panel data (DPD) regressions, generalized estimating equations (GEE), multilevel mixed models, models with sample selection, multiple imputations, ARCH, and estimation with complex survey samples
- New approaches, such as machine learning models, Python integration, and Bayesian analysis
- Publication-quality visualizations with easy export to various formats like PDF, EPS, and PNG
- Generate reports that incorporate results and graphs with formatted text and tables in Microsoft Word, Excel, PDF, and HTML formats
Students, Faculty, and Staff can obtain the software via self-service or by request.

Stata/MP, Stata/SE, and Stata/IC all run on any machine, but Stata/MP runs faster. You can purchase a Stata/MP license for up to the number of cores on your machine (maximum is 64). For example, if your machine has eight cores, you can purchase a Stata/MP license for eight cores, four cores, or two cores.
Stata/MP lets you analyze data in one-half to two-thirds the time compared with Stata/SE on inexpensive dual-core laptops and in one-quarter to one-half the time on quad-core desktops and laptops. Stata/MP runs even faster on multiprocessor servers. Stata/MP supports up to 64 cores/processors
Stata/IC allows datasets with as many as 2,047 variables and 2 billion observations. Stata/IC can have at most 798 right-hand-side variables in a model.
